London Metrolpolitan Police Warning Poster Remix

On Rogier van Bekel's blog I found this post about a poster commissioned and paid for by the London Metropolitan Police ... also a related post about a similar poster done by the design-impaired, but equally moronic Chicago Police Force.

This stuff upsets me so much ... but we don't need my take on this today. Rogier sums it up better than I ever could:

open_quote.pngIf terrorists do their dirty work by spreading, well, terror, what should we call public servants who promote fear and unhinged suspicions by telling the public to report note takers, binoculars users, camera enthusiasts, map owners, and motorists who time traffic lights?close_quote.png

Anyway ... this all inspired me to some midnight "photoshop rage." I was able to translate the London poster so that its true intentions are clearer ... be sure to read the texts of both versions. See if you can tell which is the original! Which is more paranoid?

warning poster

LOL number 2 is definitely more paranoid and a lot more funny. I assume number one is the original but stupid because everyone uses those things. Terrorism is very real and definitely nothing to laugh at but we all need a little comedy sometimes. Great post!

Funny posters

Weird comments here. I took the joke ...cause it was a joke, right?

These posters are great. There's so much more likely to be killed by just living, smoke or drive cars, so we don't need people to go around being scared of terrorism all the time. Do we? Really?

Regards,
Pete

not trivial but stop the hype!

How many die on roads every day?
How many of them are kids?

How much will it cost to "centrally record an image of evry driver to make sure the dangerous offenders are caught"?

But how much better and cheaper to enforce a 20MPH speed limit in residential areas and have a speed bump at evry T junction? - but then , that would inconvienience the public at large...

The relevance to the "Terrorisim!!!" issue here is that weighed against these options, surely the use of extensive propaganda to stir a "report it!" culture on photographers and anyone who is different - must surely be seen for the dangerous, politically motivated, witch hunt it is?

Coming back to this ...

Ah, this just got boingboing'd (not this post, a photo of the same poster by Cory Doctorow) ... I now notice how upset and how tired I was when I did this. I think I finished it at about 2 a.m. in a frenzy of righteous anger ... Oh well. It is what it is and I yam what I yam!

great post, and great

great post, and great point.

fear politics nowadays is seriously obvious

Moron

No, it is you that is the idiot. Freedom and the loss of it is far more serious.

Fucking sheep.

Terrorism

Terrorism is serious. You are a total idiot!

Define Terrorism

define terrorism you twat - there is nothing more serious than the removal of our civil rights by those who are 'protecting us' from 'terrorists'.

Read George Orwell - sound familiar at all to you?

Serious?

No, terrorism is TRIVIAL. You are more likely to kill yourself than be killed or injured in a terrorist attack!
